Woman of the Month : December

OPIE!! Considering she touched down in the land of Oz this morning, we felt it only appropriate that we name Oprah as our 'Woman of the Month' for December!

Orpah Gail Winfrey was born in 1954 making her a very fine 56 years!
Her award winning talk show which has been running since the early 80's has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history.
She has been ranked the richest African American of the 20th century,and was once the world's only black billionaire.

It is said she is one of the most influential woman in the world and she has improved the lives of through her charity work, including the set up of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, a first class school is South Africa were girls are nurtured and educated.

Opie was born into poverty in Mississippi to a teenage single mother and was then raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. Her youth was considereably tough, she was raped at the age of nine, fell pregnant at 14 with her son dying in infancy. She later moved to Tennessee to live with her father and landed a job in radio while still in high school. At 19 she began co-anchoring the local evening news and she was eventually transferred to the daytime talk show arena, and after boosting a third-rated Chicago talk show to first place in the ratings, she launched her own production company and became the queen of talk show!!

It is estimated, that from From 2006 to 2008, her support of Barack Obama delivered over a million votes in the close 2008 Democratic primary race.

See seems to be the only person who can get celebrities to tell all and she is amazing because she gives out heaps of free stuff! Now she has her magazine, her book club, dvds, mugs and her bestie Gail!
